Jeff Johnson's "Guaranteed Gains" is a look at basic muscle gain strategy. That's really it. Basic muscle gain strategy presented in a passion-free, lethargic way. I never got the impression that the author was the experienced personal trainer or bodybuilder that he presents himself as on the sales page. I just thought he was regurgitating stuff he had read.

In fact, I would tend to question the existence of this Jeff Johnson, Personal Trainer. The photo on the sales page representing this Jeff Johnson shows a man with an impressive physique. But it looks like a stock photo that was bought. Through some very amateur detective work, I came to the hypothesis that the actual creator of this program is the same guy who created that fabulously pathetic Muscly Jerk Guide (where he represented himself as a cartoon).

That's pretty much conjecture and I'll gladly take it down if shown evidence that I'm way off base. But I smell a rat.

There isn't anything wrong the information contained in the ebook. It seems pretty accurate. The writing is decent but the style seems more suited for a textbook as opposed to a training book geared to teach AND motivate. It is in sharp contrast to the sales page.

There is some odd use of tenses - one second the ebook is telling you "a bodybuilder should" and the next "you should." You never get the impression that an experienced trainer is talking to you, you never feel like there is personal experience behind it.

The author gets into the science of nutrition of and training for muscle growth. He presents diet samples and a sample weight training program. He works through supplements briefly but fairly. The nuts and bolts are present but I just didn't buy any of it. It put me to sleep.

The bonuses are more of the same.

Conclusion: Even without my skepticism to the legitimacy of the writer, this isn't something I'd recommend.
